Solar Physics Postgraduate Researcher

About Me

Liam_working

My name is Liam Edwards and I am a postgraduate researcher at the Solar System Physics research group at Aberystwyth University. My research is focused mainly on the atmosphere of our Sun - the corona.

I am a fluent Welsh speaker and have spent my entire life living in Wales. I am passionate about the Welsh language and my PhD is funded by a Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol postgraduate research scholarship.

My undergraduate degree was also done at Aberystwyth University and, after entering on the Foundation Year scheme in 2014, I graduated in the summer of 2019 with a first-class integrated Master's degree in Astrophysics.

I am deeply passionate about science communication and outreach and I have been involved in several outreach projects, written articles, and have done several radio interviews.

Outside of academia, I enjoy playing video games, reading books (mainly non-fiction), going for walks along the beautiful Aberystwyth seafront, and I love playing and watching football.

My goal is to become a physics lecturer and so teaching is something I thoroughly enjoy doing. I was a postgraduate demonstrator for the first year PH15720 Laboratory Techniques for Experimental Physics module during the first year of my PhD. I am currently a postgraduate demonstrator for the PH05720 Introduction to Laboratory Physics foundation year module.
