When I think back to past events, often it is the car I was driving that I remember most clearly. Except for my Westfield - that has been around forever.

Sadly I eventually moved on an sold the Westie in 2018, I'd mostly stopped using it because kitesurfing, model flying and other stuff had taken over. The weather seems to have worsened, or at least the number of days per year when I got around to using it had declined. Converted the garage to a workshop for my CNC mill and Lathe etc. Some day I still want another one but it will mean finding space to build freestanding garage.

Cars, cars, cars

Years ago, when I still had time, I built or customised several cars. There is more info for some of them on the sidebar links. The first, during my student days was a simple paint job on a Fiat Panda (sadly no pictures because although I did own a compact 35mm camera, it was a choice between petrol or film... But, at least I had a grant rather a loan for my degree.

Next came a Rover V8 conversion of a Ford Cortina complete with side exit cherry bomb exhausts and bucket seats, which I sprayed in bright Magenta (looks red on the pictures unfortunately - or fortunately dependent on point of view). Sounded great and was quite fast, but very thirsty. Then came a Westfield Kit car, which compared to the Cortina with the endless welding, was easy.

Other

rovina

These I really liked, but eventually got too old (the cars, not me...)

  • MX5 Mk 3 2.0l (grey with tan-orange interior)
  • MX5 Mk 2.5 10th anniversary
  • Smart City Car
  • VW Scirocco (Cheap)
  • Fiat 500 (Fun)

Boring

Several boring cars I owned were for specific purposes such as transporting model aircraft and kite surf kit about, or carting rubbish during house renovations:

  • Fiat Marea Estate 1.6 (dark blue)
  • Fiat Tempra 1.6 (silver)
