Rough Set-based Approaches to Feature Selection

This chapter presents an overview of the existing research regarding the application of rough set theory to feature selection. Rough Set Attribute Reduction (RSAR), the precursor to the developments in this book, is described in detail. However, these methods are unsuited to the problems discussed in other chapters. In particular, they are unable to handle noisy or real-valued data effectively - a significant problem if they are to be employed within real-world applications.
