'Than Yu Dai Moh' (2019). Muang Ngoi, Laos. In traditional Lao belief, the mask of Than Yu (partner of Dai Moh) is used to protect children from illness and death, by distracting the deity Dai Moh, who feeds on the children's illnesses. This is reimagined through found ampules and Buddhist amulets in a cave above the remote village of Muang Ngoi, where hundreds of people sheltered from the US bombing campaigns during the Vietnam war.
