Well, I don't really use this website anymore. Since the rise of the social web it seems a bit silly. But I did want to highlight a couple of research activities here that are part of the Advanced Reasoning Group here at Aber.
- First, work I'm doing in helping businesses predict cashflow, profit and other markers, particular in relation to the eco bag and recycled bag market. I'm working with ethical bag company Plum Ethical to help them improve their time-to-market, reduce their costs (and so enable them to further improve their fair-trade offerings) and understand the causes of their business numbers. I am also working to a lesser extent with two other companies in similar ways.
- Second, this summer, I start work on a major project that will examine what can and cannot be done with AI and Machine Learning in the arena of stock market prediction! There has been a lot of silliness published in this area, and we're setting out to evaluate what has been done and then try to come up with realistic new methods.
