Welcome to UWASCR!

Hello, and welcome to our website!

We're the University of Wales Aberystwyth Society of Change Ringers, or UWASCR for short. Having been formed way back in 1961, we've got a rich history of 45 years of ringing, socialising and generally having fun.

We ring the bells at St Padarn's Church in Llanbadarn Fawr - an ancient village just on the outskirts of Aberystwyth. It's got ten bells plus a sharp seventh, having been augmented from eight back in 2001, and it's the only church with ringable bells for almost 20 miles.

We practise every Thursday evening from 19.30 to 21.00, after which we all scurry off to the pub, which is conveniently located right next to the church! On Sunday mornings, we ring from 9.15 until 10.00, which is usually swiftly followed by breakfast and a chat at Wetherspoons.

Anyone at the university is more than welcome to join us, whether you've rung before or just want the opportunity to try something new that's completely different! So if you're new to ringing or Aberystwyth, check out the 'newcomers' page, where you'll hopefully find loads of useful information. The Llanbadarn page also has some handy stuff about the bells and how to find the church!

Feel free to browse around the site to find out more about who we are and what we get up to. If you have any questions, comments or suggestions, we'll be happy to answer any queries - just drop us an email and we'll get back to you!
