A sightseeing walk in Paisley on a dreich January morning

January 2017 - While in Paisley for work, I had a quick walk around the town centre before heading back down the M8. The light wasn't great on this grey January day but it was dry and I managed to get some shots of the University, Town Hall, Paisley Abbey and the Coats Observatory. I'll be back in the summer! Nathan at the Hercules School

March 2016 - Nathan won a place on the Hercules School (what a lovely acronym for Higher European Research Course for Users of Large Experimental Systems), a five-week intensive course in all aspects of synchrotron radiation and neutrons. The theory part is hosted at the ESRF in Grenoble, while the participants are spread out around a number of European central facilities for the practical component of the course. Nathan did his practical at Elettra in Trieste and also got to play with their free electron laser. He also won a postgraduate travel grant from the Institute of Physics (IoP) as a contribution to the costs of his attendance at Hercules. [more external link]
