The valley of the Nant Gerwyn.

Very clear water collecting in this puddle by the trackside in Dolgoch Forest.

A snowy Easter Monday, with some cold weather coming in across the Tywi valley.

Inside Dolgoch Forest.

The Hirnant gorge runs west to east across the forest.

<- The weather in the west is much preferable!

The tiny Hirnant before it descends into its gorge. ->

Big cloud over Cefn y Cnwc.

A small gravel pit, for forest road maintenance.

Cefn y Cnwc and Pen y Maen.

This muddy pool could be regarded as the source of the Afon Tywi (Fechan).

The upper Tywi Fechan.

Fallen tree by the trackside.

The Tywi Fechan once it's formed itself a proper valley.

Bridge across the Nant Gwinau, linking Tywi Fechan and Moel Prysgau Forests. =>>

Nant Gwinau. The river and track run parallel and have swapped beds severel times, leading to a succession of messy fords. The walker ends up clinging to fences most of the time...
Nant Gwinau is really just the name of the upper section of the Tywi, after its merger with the Tywi Fechan.

Beautiful rapids in the Nant Gwinau near Moel Prysgau.

Looking across the Nant Gwinau towards Moel Prysgau.

More messy fords...

Drum Nantyrhelig Forest on the opposite bank of the Nant Gwinau. ->

Carreg y Fran on the opposite (eastern) side of the Tywi valley.

Cwm Nant y Bont. The forest track takes the long way around the steep incision, following a contour.

Hail sweeping in across the Tywi - again.

Cwm Hirnant, this time below the gorgy bit.

Felled forest in Cwm Hirnant.

Dripping hillside after a heavy hail shower. For scale, the little cascade on the right is about man high.

Looking across the Tywi valley and the upper section of the magnificent tall waterfall.

This page shows my own views down the hillsides of Wales, not those of my employer. Does anyone really think the College is paying me to go walking?!?
