Comb Jellies

Comb Jelly, Beroe (G. Jenkins)
Back to Research

A world away from birds, I have recently developed projects involving the behaviour of marine animals. I have recently worked with undergraduate volunteer research assistants, on the behaviour of sea gooseberries (Pleurobrachia), a type of comb jelly, in relation to others of their species. Since each jelly produces both eggs and sperm, there may be advantages to aggregating with others to ensure fertilisation by others.
