Cartoon Dreams

Due to the only lecturer our course has on a Friday being stuck in deepest darkest Wales the research I got done on “Small Business Finance Systems” is still sat in its folder.

On a brighter note a day stuck inside watching the snow fail to settle outside made for a nice getting things done day. My CV has had all the flaws pointed out over the Gregynog weekend repaired, me and PHP are getting along without (so far) any arguments and have got several applications written up ready to get read by careers before I send them off.

I love free curry day at Inn on the Pier. It is just so studenty buying 50p of squash to get free food. Also discovered that Jonnie did his Industrial year within walking distance of my home in Bath. It is indeed a small world.

I got it done and checked over in plenty of time for the hand in Monday morning. Now to bite my nails and wait for the results.

So that requires an updating of the goals list ^_^

1. Do my part of the research for the group presentation by the meet up on Friday
2. Finish PHP sssignment by 1st in order to do the write up and validation.
3. Get the Christmas Shopping before the end of term (17th)
4. Personal Website

I wish I was back in Bath the christmas market is on and theres always such nice ‘things I never knew I needed’ to buy.

Me and the PHP assignment haven’t had any major fallings out yet so feeling quite confident in it turning out well ^_^

Finally got round to printing out the list of assignments I have in before the Christmas holidays.

So need to crack on slightly. Workweek has been a godsend got a lot of web-stuff done for both the group project and the PHP assignment. So I’m going to count goals 2 and 3:

Make a good start (Lets say get the CSS done and the XHTML started) on the CS25010 assignment by the end of work week. I could reuse last years assignment but I could do with the practice and designing the layout is the most fun part ^_^

and

Get the CSS done for the group project site. Its already started but I need something decent to show the group by the Thursday meeting. Not sure whether to create some basic HTML just to show where what’ll go. Hmmm’ll think on that one.

as my first two completed goals. Unfortunately my net-book is completely broken. So I’m going to have to buy a new keyboard. As my bank account is currently hovering in the negative I’m going to have to put that on hold. Or ask for a keyboard for Christmas.

This means the goals list needs updating. So here is the new and improved goals list:

1. Get the CS283 assignment finished by Sunday evening ready to be spellchecked and printed off Monday morning
2. Get the research done and meet up with the rest of the group for the CS274 Presentation by the end of the week
3. Get the Christmas shopping done before the end of the term
4. Personal Website

Christmas has this eerie way of creeping up on you. Present shopping on a budget is always Hell interesting so this years gonna be fun. Also Aber isn’t the most gifted when it comes to shops. Oh well gotta be done.

Right on with CS283

Well Terry appears to beyond my limited fixit knowledge. I have been informed that I could try cleaning the keyboard with distilled water. Where do you even get distilled water? Apparently Charlies will sell it. So thats on the todo list for tomorrow.

Is going well. I’ve got the background and general layout sorted. Just need to get the different text styles/buttons/final layout settled upon and work out how to do the splash page.  Right on track for having something to show the group by thursday. However I really need to start counting the hours spent on this. My time sheet is looking fairly bare. Not for lack of work, just for lack of documenting.

Anyways onwards. This CSS isn’t typing itself ^_^

Well getting back on here took a bit of effort.
Deleting the login button was in hindsight a bit of a moronic move. What were you thinking past me.

Well as any journal I keep goes the way of the dodo and any of the projects I do manage to finish get hidden in my filestore I figure trying to keep this blog going will provide enough motivation to actually get the ball rolling on various things. A public acknowedgement of goals I have on.

Failure hurts more when others know about it. So lets aim for success here.

4. And this is the big one. To create my own personal website by easter. Given myself plenty of time to allow for assignments and revision. But want to get it done before the easter examinations.

Wow I have a tonne more I could write but am going to try to keep it to the basics. Lets say when I finish one task I can have a new one.

Oh well need to head up the hill now. Going to see Rare Exports. Which appears to be a film about evil Santa Clause. I see no way this movie cannot be awesome. Abertoir is a seriously brilliant festival and I can’t believe its already over for another year.

Heres the Rare Exports Trailer which seems to be something you can either love or hate. I’m hoping its as good as it looks. It was exactly as brilliant as it looks!

Installing osCommerce was quite easy I ran into none of the problems I did whilst installing word press.

The biggest problem I ran into was getting back to my blog as I changed my password and then accidentally saved the config file twice while changing the password in it. This is now fixed and everything is a-okay! ^_^

My new theme is awesome-sauce. It is much better than Spaceinvader’s.

I downloaded some plugins one of which puts my photo in the tab ^_^ the other checks my posts for spam.

This bit was lots easier than the last part cause Redache didn’t try to help

I think I may the only person in the whole year who took three attempts to install this bloody program.

The first attempted got jacked meaning I had to delete everything, change my password and start over from the beginning. This did however teach me a valuable lesson about leaving installation screens up while chatting to others.

On the second attempt I managed to download the wrong version of the software, even though I’d managed to get this right in the previous attempt. So I had to delete it all and start again.

This is my third attempt and so far nothing appears to have broken in any of the unique ways I seem to manage on a daily basis.

Attempt one’s epic fail was entirely down to Redache and his help I am entirely unbitter an blame no-one for the first attempts failure ^_^
