The very first Aberystwyth 10K race was held in 1999 and since then it has grown into one of the most popular flat road races in mid-Wales. It is now even recognised by the Athletics association of Wales and as a result, attracts a quality field every year.
The race was started in 1999 jointly between Aberystwyth Athletics Club and Marie Curie cancer care to raise funds for the charity. It was an immediate success so the event has continued, and in 2001 Macmillan Cancer Nursing Care became the joint organisers of the race because of the effects of a reorganisation with Marie Curie in Wales. Numbers particiating in the race have steadilly increased each year and we are hoping one day to attract in excess of 500 participants.
