Alexander married Susey Simpson on 22nd December 1862.  She was born in the Haworth area in 1844. He was 21 and she was 18.  They were both resident in North Ives, Oxenhope at the time of their marriage and were married in Oxenhope Parish Church.His occupation is listed as carter at the baptism of his first 3 children on October 6, 1867 and the family is still resident at North Ives.
