Trips

The club organises a day trip nearly every weekend. Trips are usualy hiking or scrambling, but we also organise climbing, paintballing and other trips.

We also oranize a few weekend trips, where we go away for a full weekend, and either camp somewhere or stay in a bunkhouse.

We organize two week long expeditions every year, one in Britain during the Easter holidays, and one abroad in the Summer.

Trip Signups

Sign up for a trip will take place on a Thursday lunchtime in the Union, between 12.00 and 1.00pm, unless otherwise specified. If there are places remaining after the Thursday signup, there may be a second opportunity to sign up. If this is the case, a email will be sent out to members.

To sign up for a trip, you must be a fully paid up member of the club, and have read and signed the membership declaration.

When signing up for a trip you will be required to pay a trip deposit, with the remainder of the amount to be payable on the day of the trip.

If a trip is cancelled, the deposits are returnable.

Sometimes, a trip location or activity may be changed more than 24 hours in advance of the trip taking place, and if so, we will alert members beforehand via email. In this case, members are entitled to decide that they no longer wish to participate in the trip, and are entitled to have their deposit returned to them, provided that they inform the club that they will no longer be attending, by sending a email to the club email account.

Sometimes, a trip location or activity may be changed less than 24 hours in advance of the trip taking place, and if so, there may not be enough time to alert members beforehand via email. In this case, members are entitled to decide on the day that they no longer wish to participate in the trip, and are entitled to have their deposit returned to them, provided that they inform the organizer on the day of their decision, and subsequently send a email to the club email account.

In all other cases where a member decides after signing up that they no longer wish to participate in a trip, and informs the club of this decision, the deposit is not returnable unless someone can be found to take their place on the trip.

Whenever someone fails to turn up for a trip without informing the club beforehand, their deposit in non returnable.

The BMC recognises that climbing and mountaineering are activities with a danger of personal injury or death. Participants in these activities should be aware of and accept these risks and be responsible for their own actions and involvement.
