So, it is the summer holidays and not much happens with AberFSF right now. However, there are rumblings and stirrings over on our Facebook group, talk of things to do in the coming year, so check on there for more details. This website will have shiny new things going on come September, but until then enjoy Dr. Horrible just one last time...

For our final screening of the year, we went to see Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, which was then followed by a trip to Scholars (where we met up with AnimeSoc) and another walk round the castle.


Wednesday 21st May 2008

For our Comic Book Night we screened The Fountain, which followed the Robot Wars episode of Spaced. Then we went to Spoons, hid around the castle for a bit, the Angel and then the Bay.


Wednesday 14th May 2008

For our Crazy Hacking Night we screened Hackers, which followed the gun-miming episode of Spaced. Then we went to Spoons, the Academy, the Bay and then roamed around the beach for a bit.


Wednesday 7th May 2008

A special treat this week, we went to see Iron Man at the Commodore. Then we went and sat at the beach for a bit, roamed around the castle (in pitch darkness) then finished up in the Angel.

Following on from last week, we had Day Watch, preceded by episode 3 of Count Duckula and followed by a trip to Spoon's and the Cambrian before turning in early.

Marking Jess' first week as Entertainments Officer, we saw the second episode of The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy before screening Night Watch.

This week we had The Man from Earth, bookended by the first episodes of The Armando Iannucci Shows and Garth Marenghi's Darkplace and followed by a trip to Spoons, the Cambrian and the Angel.


Wednesday 9th April 2008

Starting back after Easter, we began the term with Futurama: episodes 9, 29, 51 and 66, followed by the brand new Bender's Big Score. Then down to Spoons, the Cambrian, the Angel and the Bay.


Wednesday 12th March 2008

Ending the term with David Cronenberg, we screened The Fly, preceded by episode 182 of The Simpsons and ending with a trip to Spoons and Simon's for Guitar Hero, Carcassonne and South Park.

For our Modern Sci-Fi Night the choice went to Twelve Monkeys (our second Terry Gilliam film this year), followed by a trip to the Shilam, the Academy and the Angel. Then away for an early night.

For our Classic Sci-Fi Night we screened the original version of The Time Machine, preceded by the first episode of The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy.

For our Splatter Night we watched Evil Dead 2, preceded by the first episode of The Sarah Silverman Program (which evenly divided the room) and followed by the fourth episode of Inspector Gadget.

For our B-Movie Night we showed Tremors 3, preceded by the first episode of Red Dwarf IV and followed by a trip to Cwrt Mawr Bar and Reload... which was spectacular.

For our Low-Key Sci-Fi Night we watched Gattaca, sandwiched in between three episodes of Shaun the Sheep. This was followed by a few rounds at Spoons, the Cambrian and the Angel.

In tribute to the recently deceased Heath Ledger, we screened his breakthrough hit 10 Things I Hate About You. This was followed by the first episode of The IT Crowd.

For our third screening of the new year we watched the rather entertaining The Fifth Element, following on from episode 29 of Futurama.

For our second screening of the new year we had an unusual selection of The Royal Tenenbaums, preceded by a few episodes of Shaun the Sheep and Futurama.

For our first screening of the new year we watched Piranha, preceded by the pilot of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, followed by a trip to Spoons and the Angel.

For our final screening of 2007 we met at the Commodore once again to see The Golden Compass. This was followed by a few drinks at Scholars and then the Angel.

For this year's Christmas screening we watched The Muppet Christmas Carol, followed by several rounds of WarioWare on the GameCube.

For our ninth screening of the year we went to the Commodore to see Beowulf. This was followed by a trip to Spoons and the Fountain, ending with a Connect 4 marathon at the Angel.

For our eighth screening of the year we had a "Most Grand Adventures Night", which resulted in The Neverending Story (pipping Jumanji, The Chronicles of Narnia and The Wizard of Oz to the post) preceded by the Wizard of Oz Futurama parody.

For our seventh screening of the year we watched Death Becomes Her, preceded by the Doctor Who Comic Relief Special from 1999.

For our sixth screening of the year we held a "Pilot Night" and so showed the very first episodes of Dexter, Bionic Woman and John from Cincinnati.

For our fifth screening of the year, which just happened to fall on Halloween, we latched ourselves on to Abertoir and so watched Poltergeist, Planet Terror and Death Proof.

For our fourth screening of the year we watched The Shining rather than the other three Kubrick films on offer (A Clockwork Orange, 2001: A Space Odyssey and Artificial Intelligence: AI). Also, the last episode of the second season of Red Dwarf.


Wednesday 17th October 2007

For our third screening of the year we watched the classic Flight of the Navigator, which was greatly desired over both Short Circuit and *batteries not included. Also, the second episode of Blackadder II.


Wednesday 10th October 2007

For our second screening of the year we watched Brazil, which won out over RoboCop and THX 1138. Also, the very first episode of Spaced.


Wednesday 3rd October 2007

For our first screening of the year we watched TRON, which was chosen over Innerspace and Ghost in the Shell. Also, the episode of Black Books with the shrinking bedroom.
