I searched around for a while for a theme I liked, and finally settled on the default theme for last year, as it is customisable and the header is not overbearing like the default 2011 theme. I couldn’t find a picture I liked for the header however so that’s left as the default image. The background was easy to choose though!
I also searched around for plugins… not to much avail. I installed about 5 twitter plugins that either had ‘exception not caught’ errors (reminding me of software development) or simply made no sense, so ended up just adding ‘share’ buttons for each site.
The Akismet plugin (spam catcher) was the second plugin I installed. This setup was quick and smooth.
Installing wordpress was a relatively quick and painless process, despite problems with permissions regarding PHP content.
When all was sorted out with the IS, it only took a few minutes to set up wordpress and navigate around, performing simple “settling in” tasks.
